February Presidents Message

Brothers our next meeting is Wednesday February 13th at 7 p.m

It was decided at our last meeting to change the date due to Valentine’s Day.

The March meeting has also been changed to Tuesday the 4th  @ 7pm, in order to have a meeting right before the dinner dance.

The first quarter of our fraternal calendar marks one of our busy times but, yet our proudest as we celebrate our Irish heritage. We have many things to discuss at the next two meetings:

Charity Raffle – Please turn in any money or unsold tickets to Jerry Ryan so that we can deposit and re-distribute. Selling tickets is never easy but if you stress where the money goes people may re-think that NO. Here is a breakdown of the donations:

Knights of Columbus - Raleigh Council #2546 - Virgin Mary Grotto
Ulster Project
Urban Ministry - Raleigh
Cardinal Gibbons Catholic High School - Raleigh - Essay Contest
Holy Cross School - Belfast, Ireland
Cathedral of Sacred Heart - Raleigh - Medical Clinic
New Bern House - Raleigh
Birth Choice Clinic- Raleigh
Project St. Patrick - AOH National Project – Vocations

Pretty impressive list so let’s add to it. Sell, Sell!

Dinner Dance – A majority is set thanks to Jerry Ryan and our VP who locked in the catering this week. Young Jack Crosson has the tickets printed and I will have flyers ready to distribute. We will seek volunteers for the following: Decorating, Set up, clean up and food distribution. We feel it is wiser to serve the food rather than as a buffet style. We will also need ticket sellers for the door prizes and the basket of cheer.

Door prizes – Brothers you want to ask your local business for gift certificates. The officers will be working with the local Irish Pubs.

Parade Fundraiser – Next Sunday staring at 3pm at Nappy Tandy’s. The Raleigh Rose and Grand Marshall presentations.

Go to www.nappertandysirishpub.com for more information.

Bishop’s AOH Mass – Tentatively scheduled for 9 am on the day of the parade (3/15) at Sacred Heart Cathedral

Grotto Dedication – Jerry Ryan will provide exact details.

Parade – Young Jack has contacted Junior about the float. The parade committee will need volunteers for the parking lot. The paratroopers have agreed to jump this year. A motion will be made at the next meeting for the AOH to cover.

NASH Square – Volunteers needed to set up, dismantle and to recruit new members. We dropped 23 members in time for our per capita assessment so we need to Add 25 in 2008.

Shamrock Degree – Some time in April or May.

Audit Committee – I need two brothers after the meeting to conduct the annual audit. Steve and I dare you to fine errors.

Quarterly Service Program  - This year I would like to pick one item per quarter to donate our time or funds in the name of charity.

I would like to challenge all brothers to join me in sponsoring a young man named Collin Couch as he raises money for the Saint Baldric’s Foundation. Money raised goes to Kids Cancer programs. I donated $30 today in the name of “AOH Wake County Division #1”.  Collin had raised $365 before my donation so let’s see if the AOH can match that individually. Did I mention that Collin purchased a raffle ticket last week?
